From November 3, 2020, Turkish Airlines will start operating two flights from St. Petersburg to Istanbul and back every day. The departure time of the day flight from St. Petersburg will remain the same: 05.16, arrival in Istanbul at 19:30.

Russia resumes flights with Serbia, Cuba, Japan 01st of November

Considering the decisions by the operational headquarters, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order on the resumption of air service with Serbia, Cuba and Japan on a reciprocal basis, an official at the headquarters announced on Wednesday.  Flights Moscow-Belgrade, Moscow-Cayo Coco and Moscow-Santa Clara will be operated twice a week. Three flights will fly to Japan from November 1: two from Moscow to Tokyo and one from Vladivostok to Tokyo.

Krondshadt forts in St.Petersburg will be reconstructed to host hotels, museums and cinema

A new reconstruction project of 3 historical forts was presented last week. The project includes renovation and restoration works on “Ostrov fortov” park territory for Alexander l fort, Peter the Great fort, and Kronshlot fort, built in the 18th century. Accordingly to the project they plan to use Peter the Great fort for open-air museum expositions in the east bastion and museum of mine blasting work history in the fort tower, also there will be restaurants and a hotel.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin confirmed list of nationalities allowed to use simplified Russian electronic visa launched 1st of January 2021

A senior official in the Russian government has confirmed that a Russian electronic visa for 53 nationalities will launch next year, greatly simplifying the process of applying for a visa for the country. 

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin  announced that the new electronic visa system will come into effect on January 1st, 2021, and save eligible nationalities the need to apply for a visa for Russia in person from an embassy or consulate.

In International competition for the Architectural Landscape design Concept for Tuchkov Buyan (Tuchkov island)  Park project of Studio 44 win. The project was mastermind with Netherlandish bureau West 8.  The territory of the future park is a part of historic center of St. Petersburg and related groups of Monuments UNESCO World Heritage Stage Site. The site is within walking distance of the city’s main landmarks as Peter and Paul Fortress, the Hermitage, St. Isaac Cathedral and others.

Moscow company Placebo/25  together with Holland designer Anselm Jansen will open new event venue LOFT#7 in historical buildings in the center of St. Petersburg in November 2020. The project will  include 5 transforming event zones with a common capacity 2500 pax cabaret-style, concert hall for 4500 pax, photo studio, night club, coworking, tattoo studios, food-mall, stores, and shops.

The territory of former shoe factory “Skorohod” (Racewalker) will be rebuilt  for new public space by the limited liability company «Ohta Group”. Accordingly to the project 5 historical buildings of the 19th century will be saved and reconstruct for stores, cafes, apartments and offices. The central part will become Town Hall Square with a water tower. The author of the project Maxim Fillipovich noticed, that the territory has all necessary for creating a divided quarter: the main trade street, the central square, creative cluster, street food zone, and other yet. And from the project requires only sophisticated logistics and functionality conception  of buildings.

Changes will be part of creating of Pochtamtsky Quartal which will include Polytechnical Museum (located inside former Lomonosov’s Mansion), Concert Hall (former Main Post Office Building and it will be managed by Mariinsky Theater), Congress center, pedestrian district with cafes and shops.

Accordingly to the plan the Center of Contemporary Art will be situated in the historical building of the 19th century of “Vodokanal” (Governmental Organization provided water-supply and water disposal services in St.Petersburg since 1858). The project head manager Daniil Konovalov said that now the team of The Supporting Art Center is waiting for permission to reconstruct and renovation of the building with floor aria 2200 sq.m. At the same time, they sent a request to rent all territory 5500 sq.m. of the district.

Rooms of Nicholas I will be opened in the Gatchina Palace after 10 Years of restoration!

From the beginning of September 2020, tourists will be able to see the restored gallery of the working rooms of Emperor Nicholas I.  The interiors of the Gatchina Palace were badly damaged by a fire in 1944. It is noticed that the restoration lasted 10 years.  Excursions for visitors to the ceremonial Great Military Office, the Reception Room, the Valet's Office, the working Corner Office, as well as a number of office premises will become available from 4th September 2020. This was reported by representatives of the Gatchina Palace.

Head of Saint Petersburg Convention Bureau announced that Saint Petersburg Travel Hub Forum will become annual event and take place in St. Petersburg every September. On September 11 — 12, 2019, second travel forum St. Petersburg Travel Hub was held on the site of UNWTO 23rd General Assembly. The forum became a meeting place for tourism community leaders and brought together participants from 57 regions of Russia.

Within the frameworks of the Saint Petersburg Travel Hub 2019 business programme, more than 10 discussion sessions and round tables were planned in the current industry development directions. Experts paid special attention to promoting the tourism opportunities of the country, the medical and health tourism development, international cooperation in the humanitarian field, the sustainable development of regions as tourist destinations and other issue

One Billion Rubles will be spent on the restoration of the Upper Garden of Peterhof

The Peterhof Museum Reserve is ready to provide 932.9 million rubles for the restoration of the Upper Garden, based on information on the public procurement portal posted on August 7 and updated on Monday, 10th.

The work will have to last until the end of 2023. Before this date, the contractor will cut down sick and old plants, install new trellis galleries and lusthauses, and mount modern benches, which will be made of wood and reinforced concrete.

Wizz Air has announced the restart of its Russian routes, with flights from Luton to Moscow and St Petersburg taking off from August 15th.
