Her mother, Natalia Kirillovna Naryshkina, whom Peter loved all his life, also called it in his childhood. This tender childish name gave the innovator-king the strength to withstand the burdens of state affairs, to which he aspired from infancy. That is why Petrushi’s child’s image was chosen as the emblem of Petrushi, but on horseback (albeit small and wooden for the time being) and with a saber (albeit toy): all the glory of government and the weight of power are still ahead of him.

DAY 3 — 6th May 2020, Wednesday

Morning Peterhoff Palace & Park visit

Peterhof is one of the world's most famous palace-park ensembles.

The Peterhof Museum Complex is one of the most popular museums not only in Russia, but in the whole world. Even a few hours here are enough to feel the spirit of history, which still lives on and breathes in this magnificent place.

As a former residence of the Russian monarchs, Peterhof brings together the finest achievements in national and international culture. This unique complex was created by outstanding architects, decorators and sculptors, whose spectacular works of art slot perfectly into the natural beauty of the coastal landscape.

Peter the Great planned Peterhof as the residence of a sea king. This was to be his incarnation of Russia as a great European power, with a foothold on the shores of the world's oceans, capable of competing with the finest Western courts — above all, with Versailles.

The history of Peterhof begins back in 1705, when travelling chambers were built for Peter the Great on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland. Soon, not far from this place, work began on the creation of a new imperial residence, which, Peter determined, would one day outshine all the other royal palaces of Europe. The tsar deliberately built his new residence by the sea, as a triumphant symbol of the successful conclusion of Russia's long struggle for an outlet to the Baltic Sea. Peterhof was officially opened in the presence of the tsar and foreign diplomats in August 1723.

The architecture and decor of Peterhof reflects all the artistic styles of the past and the personal tastes and preferences of every Russian monarch.

One of the world's most famous palace-park ensembles, Peterhof was virtually destroyed during the Second World War. The post-war resurrection of the entire complex was one of the finest chapters in the history of restoration in Russia. The present-day beauty of Peterhof is the result of decades of painstaking work by architects, painters and masters of decorative and applied art. Restoration work continues even to this day, in the Chapel Royal of the Grand Palace, which ought to be completed by May 2011.

Today, the museum complex stretches across five hundred hectares of territory, embracing Strelna, Peterhof and Oranienbaum. Dotted with sparkling fountains, the Lower Park and Upper Gardens flow effortlessly into the shady and romantic glades of Alexandria, forming a unique fusion of regular and landscape parks. Every day, more than twenty museums — vastly different in their origins, ideas and contents — delight visitors with exciting new discoveries and the joy of their handsome treasures.

The Peterhof Museum Complex is rightfully regarded as the «capital of fountains.» Included in the state register of most valuable cultural objects of the Russian Federation, Peterhof now bears the proud title of one of the «Seven Wonders of Russia.»

Peterhoff Palace and Park is reachable by hydrofoils, which depart from the city center and it takes 30 min one way. Visit duration is approximately 2 hours. Photo & video is prohibited in the Palaces.

Usually quartette includes the following instruments: contrabass, violin, flute depending on the venue and availability. The musicians could be dressed in the classical back and white attires or historical costumes of a certain epoch, like Peter the Great times, Catherine II times, depending on the idea of the event. The evening performance includes usually two 45 minutes performances with 15 minutes breaks in between. Classical quartette is recommended for palaces and the restaurants with classical style decoration.

 RECOMMENDATION: Cossack Dance Show

Cossack Dance Show is performance of traditional Cossack Russian folk dance routine consisting of acrobatic tumbles, jumps, breathtaking spins and leaps and the infamous Cossack kicks! It's also a traditional Russian entertainment for dinners, birthday parties and different functions.

The cossaks are a group of Russian military warriors who still exist today, but without the same military power they had in the past. The Cossacks had specific customs and traditions. The Cossacks of Russia were legendary horsemen and warriors, but it was really through their music and dance that they unleashed their relentless energy and passion for life and freedom. Cossack (or Hopak) dancing originated in southern Russian and Ukranian military communities. The general plan was to have a battle, win, then return and have a big dance off with all your comrades. The party was male-only, of course, and often involved pantomime style re-enactments of battlefield moments, with sabres et al. Cossack Dance captivates audiences with the ultimate in folklore presentation. Theirs is a truly remarkable performance, rich in energy, passion and excitement, that will leave lasting memories of a truly remarkable evening's entertainment.

The duration of the performance is about 20-25 minutes (depending on client’s wish).

Recommended as entertainment for Russian folklore dinners.

Usually dancing group include 8 couples, but size of the group can be changed depending on venue and on the budget.

 RECOMMENDATION: Opera singers

To convey a special romantic and solemn atmosphere to the dinner, cocktail or a presentation, we suggest a performance of an opera singer. A male or female soloist will perform the most famous and beautiful classical opera pieces, Russian romances, and Russian traditional songs accompanied by the piano in between the courses (if it is a dinner). Each performance will last 10 — 15 minutes. There can be an interchange of male and female soloists. And a duet performance as a grand finale.

To be even more impressive the opera singers may be wearing the historical costumes of the epoch of Peter the Great or Catherine the Second.

Recommended for the Gala dinner in the palaces: Yussupov Palace, Peterhoff Palace, Stroganoff palace, Smolny Cathedral, Catherine Palace in Pushkin, Marble Palace and other royal palaces of Saint- Petersburg. Also it can be organized in the restaurants.

Can be arranged for any size of the group.

A great dance band will make the reception, corporate party, or special event come alive.
