Moscow and St. Petersburg won several nominations at the European stage of the World Travel Awards

World Travel Awards – the leading authority that recognises and rewards excellence in travel and tourism – has revealed its Europe 2021 winners.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 and is awarded annually to winners in various categories. Thousands of tourists and travel industry specialists vote for candidates. The defining parameters for identifying the winner are the city's security level, infrastructure and hotel chain development. The awarding of this award is considered the highest recognition of achievements in the field of tourism, this award is called the Oscar of the tourism industry.

Moscow was awarded two awards in the field of tourism at the European stage of the World Travel Awards.

In the nomination "The best tourist destination for studying the historical heritage" the prize went to St. Petersburg. Also, St. Petersburg was ahead of Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Venice and other cities and became the winner as the best city break destination in Europe, and the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee was awarded an award in the category "Best Marketing Campaign in Europe" for "St. Petersburg Hospitality / Safe Tourism ".

The Russian capital won the Best Travel Destination in Europe. City category, beating Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Geneva, Lisbon, London, Lyon, Rome, St. Petersburg, Venice and Vienna. The award in the category "The best urban organization in the field of tourism in Europe" went to the Moscow City Tourism Committee.
