New hotels: W St. Peterbsurg, Crown Plaza and InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya
New hotels W St. Peterbsurg (195 bedrooms) and Crown Plaza Ligovsky (195 bedrooms) have just been opened in St. Petersburg. First Intercontinental in Russia InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya (250 bedrooms) will be opened in July 2011 and second Crown Plaza St. Peterbsurg Airport (294 geustsrooms) will be opened in December 2011.
St. Petersburg and Moscow will host 2016 Ice Hockey World Championships
Russia added a new date to its jam packed sporting calendar after it won a bid to host the 2016 Ice Hockey World Championships. The announcement came as Russian hockey fans celebrated a 2:1 victory over Canada in the quarter finals of this year's championships in Slovakia. The event will join the 2014 Winter Olympics and the 2018 Football World Cup in Russia's list of prestigious sporting events for the next decade.
