PETRUSHA RUSSIAN RESTAURANT
At the intersection of Konnogvardeysky Boulevard, 4 and Konnogvardeysky Lane, the restaurant of Russian cuisine Petrousha (Petrusha) was opened. The former barracks of the Life Guards of the Equestrian Regiment have thus finally turned into, perhaps, the most famous restaurant address of the Northern Capital. Petrousha restaurant has 3 halls for 160 seats: a living room (40 seats), a craft hall (64 seats) and a fireplace hall (56 seats), children's room is present. Antique furniture, antique interior items, engravings of Petersburg, drawings of the majestic buildings of the young capital, portraits of outstanding people of Peter's time, soft music, elegant lamps, smoke ceramics and Dulev tea set — the interior and the atmosphere of the restaurant seem to transfer guests during the youth of the great Emperor, the era of Peter Ensembles and the Grand Embassy »Petrousha» – so, according to legend, they affectionately called Peter I abroad during the time of the Great Embassy – Russia’s diplomatic mission to Western Europe in the late 17th century. Her mother, Natalia Kirillovna Naryshkina, whom Peter loved all his life, also called it in his childhood. This tender childish name gave the innovator-king the strength to withstand the burdens of state affairs, to which he aspired from infancy. That is why Petrushi’s child’s image was chosen as the emblem of Petrushi, but on horseback (albeit small and wooden for the time being) and with a saber (albeit toy): all the glory of government and the weight of power are still ahead of him. The restaurant also hosts master classes on modeling pelmeni for tourist groups. The event includes sculpting ravioli and vareniki, tasting homemade infusions and products.
