The Republic of Azerbaijan is an ancient country, also known as the Land of Fire. The history of Azerbaijan as a state is approximately 5 thousand years old. The capital of Azerbaijan is the ancient city of Baku (Bakı), rich oil and gases, and the history-rich of legends. Azerbaijan situated along the Great Silk Road and coastline along the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan was the first Muslim East country took the decision to grant women suffrage in 1918. Azerbaijan is a mud volcanos capital. Azerbaijan is a country of modern and fancy architecture. The symbol of Azerbaijan is the Karabakh horse. Azerbaijan is a country of hospitality and kindliness, ethnic lively dances, carpets, vine and brandy, plov, and beautiful nature.

The dry subtropical climate of central and eastern Azerbaijan is characterized by a mild winter and a long (four to five months) and very hot summer, with temperatures averaging about 81° F (27° C) and maximum temperatures reaching 109° F (43° C).

The government made recently eVisa for almost all countries to make the Azerbaijan an affordable destination.

 

 

How to get to Azerbaijan

There are 3 main ways to get to Azerbaijan:

- by plane: The national carrier of Azerbaijan is Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) operates flights from Europe, Asia and the United States. Azerbaijan has international airports in Lankaran, Ganja, Gabala, Nakhchivan and Zakatala, the main international gateway is Heydar Aliyev International Airport, located in Baku.

- by train: There are direct trains connecting Azerbaijan with Georgia, Russia and Ukraine via Russia.

  • by bus from Georgia, Turkey, Iran and Russia.

 

Visa to Azerbaijan

Following nationalities can apply for an e-visa:

Australia, India, Qatar, Austria, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain Iran Singapore Belgium Israel South Korea BrazilItaly Spain Canada Japan Switzerland China South Africa UAE Czech Republic Kuwait UK Denmark Malaysia Finland New Zealand France Oman Germany Poland Greece Portugal and USA (US citizens travelling on the Azerbaijan Airlines New York-Baku direct flight are eligible for an e-visa)

To obtain e-visas to Azerbaijan you should make 3 simple steps on evisa.gov.az : apply, pay and download the e-visa sent via email within 3 days

When applying for e-visas to Azerbaijan, note the following:

  • you must apply at least 3 working days before your visit.
  • your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the e-visa expires.
  • the e-visa fee is $24 USD, an urgent e-visa is $51 USD and is non-refundable.

Foreign residents of the Gulf Cooperation Countries (the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman) can get a visa upon arrival if their residency is valid for at least another 6 months.

All other nationalities should apply for a visa at their nearest Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
