Episode 29: COCOCO Restaurant, St. Petersburg, Russia - Tsar Events' RUSSIA SURVIVAL GUIDE

New Episode of Tsar Events' RUSSIA SURVIVAL GUIDE with Maya Krivchenia is devoted to  COCOCO  Restaurant Sadko famouse for it's concept. You can check our new video here.

Cococo restaurant is a new presentation of Russian cuisine. From the very beginning, opening in 2012, and to this very day, everyone here is devoted to the main principle — working with farmer's and seasonal products, cooking of what was gathered, caught and produced in North-West region of Russia in every particular season. In severe winter season root vegetables, grains and semi-products made during summer are used, while summer and spring are rich with fresh herbs, vegetables and berries, each quickly taken over with the next — and restaurant menu has up to 20 changes, renewing of dishes, during the year. The head and heart of Cococo kitchen — Chef Igor Grishechkin. Brave novator and ironic experimentator, he cleverly mixes modern technologies, traditional for Russian cuisine ingredients and childhood memories of different flavours. A little bit of madness, a lot of humor, love and appreciation of native products and unpredictable combinations — this is what his cuisine is known for. Complementing authors cuisine there are Russian character beverages – natural berry morses and kissels, fragrant hot herbal teas and bread kvass The restaurant's appearance, alike it's cuisine, is modern and undeniably Russian. Bright, ethnic, clear and ironic. Velvet and wood, gold and dinner china, mirrors crystal shine and hovering black feathers of restaurant's symbol – all these details create a very alluring image of a «jewelry box» you want to continuously look at.

At the intersection of Konnogvardeysky Boulevard, 4 and Konnogvardeysky Lane, the restaurant of Russian cuisine Petrousha (Petrusha) was opened. The former barracks of the Life Guards of the Equestrian Regiment have thus finally turned into, perhaps, the most famous restaurant address of the Northern Capital. Petrousha restaurant has 3 halls for 160 seats: a living room (40 seats), a craft hall (64 seats) and a fireplace hall (56 seats), children's room is present. Antique furniture, antique interior items, engravings of Petersburg, drawings of the majestic buildings of the young capital, portraits of outstanding people of Peter's time, soft music, elegant lamps, smoke ceramics and Dulev tea set — the interior and the atmosphere of the restaurant seem to transfer guests during the youth of the great Emperor, the era of Peter Ensembles and the Grand Embassy «Petrousha» – so, according to legend, they affectionately called Peter I abroad during the time of the Great Embassy – Russia’s diplomatic mission to Western Europe in the late 17th century. Her mother, Natalia Kirillovna Naryshkina, whom Peter loved all his life, also called it in his childhood. This tender childish name gave the innovator-king the strength to withstand the burdens of state affairs, to which he aspired from infancy. That is why Petrushi’s child’s image was chosen as the emblem of Petrushi, but on horseback (albeit small and wooden for the time being) and with a saber (albeit toy): all the glory of government and the weight of power are still ahead of him. The restaurant also hosts master classes on modeling pelmeni for tourist groups. The event includes sculpting ravioli and vareniki, tasting homemade infusions and products.
