Wizz Air to relaunch Russian routes next month

Wizz Air has announced the restart of its Russian routes, with flights from Luton to Moscow and St Petersburg taking off from August 15th.

Flights will operate twice a week to the Russian capital and once a week to St Petersburg.

St. Petersburg St. Isaac Cathedral will be reopened for visitors 19th of July

St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg, the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral in the city will be reopened for visitors 19th of July.

It is the largest orthodox basilica and the fourth largest (by the volume under the cupola) cathedral in the world. It is dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia, a patron saint of Peter the Great, who had been born on the feast day of that saint.

Despite the lifting of some restrictions on museums in St. Petersburg, Erarta management  has decided to take a little extra time and reopen to visitors on 2 September 2020.

So wonderful  that that life is returning to St. Petersburg and other parts of world and Russia!  Almost  all St. Petersburg Museums  are reopened starting from today.  Hermitage State Museum will start working and accept visitors after 15th of July. 

All museums are waiting for individual guests, about group permissions will be announced later.

During centuries numerous bridges were built to connect these islands across the Neva and the city's many canals (Moika, Fontanka, Canal Griboyedova, etc.). Boat trip on St. Petersburg's canals is one of the highlights of any visit to the city. Canal boats are available from many docking stations around the city and provide a wonderful way to see the historic city from different perspective.

New hotels on Nevsky Prospect 7-9 with 78 rooms will be opened after long renovation of the famous Wawelberg Building.

One of the most unusual buildings on Nevsky Prospekt, the Wawelberg Building was compared on its completion to the Doge's Palace in Venice and the Banco di Santo Spirito in Rome, although the dark, rough granite used to face the building gives it an earlier medieval appearance.

Russian aviation authorities announced that Open Skies regime at will be introduced at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg for five years on January 1, 2020.  According to Russia’s Ministry of Transport, this initiative will complement the activities of the airport with new routes and expand the geography of flights.

Russia's Alexander Palace, the last home of Emperor Nicholas II before he and his family were executed by the Bolsheviks, will reopen to the public next summer after million-dollar renovations, officials said Friday. The palace, considered one of the best works of the Italian architect Giacomo Quarenghi, was built in the late 18th century for the future Emperor Alexander I and became the permanent residence of the last Russian tsar in 1905.

St. Petersburg Festival of Lights 2019 will take place 02—03 November

Annual festival under a label «Wonder of Light» will be held in St. Petersburg. Within two days, on the 2nd and 3rd of November, a magical garden full of real miracles will come to life on the Palace Square.

Guests and residents of the city will see giant light flowers, trees and fantastic plants in the very heart of St. Petersburg. At the festival, 3D-mapping shows and light installations will be combined into a single digital space. A specially designed application with augmented reality (AR) technology will help not to get lost in the impromptu garden.
